Round 2: increase hdc in each st (12)

Round 3: *hdc in first stitch, hdc increase in next stitch*, repeat from * 6 times (18)

Round 4: *hdc in first two stitches, hdc increase in next stitch*, repeat from * 5 times (24)

Round 6: hdc in each stitch across (30)

Row 13: hdc decrease across (6)

**Cut yarn, leaving 9” tail to work. Weave through stitches to fasten closed. Insert into top and pull through bottom.

Weave evenly through stitches from round 1, insert back through apple to top and pull tightly. This will give the apple its bottom shape. Weave through row 13 stitches, insert back and through apple to give more shape, if needed. Fasten and weave in ends.

Finishing touches

Depending on how you want your apples to turn out, here are my suggested finishes.

Stem only- with hot glue gun, cover bottom of twig with glue and place through top middle of apple (you can find a stitch that is easy to poke through).

Stem with leaf- assemble stem, hot glue leaf to stem.

Stem with leaf and teacher tag- Assemble stem, tie gift tag around stem with twine. Assemble leaf after.
