Row 6: ch 1, hdc around, join to 1st stitch with sl st (12 sts)
Row 7: ch1, [work 2 hdc in st, hdc in next three sts]
around, join to 1st stitch with sl st (15 sts).
Row 8: ch 1, hdc around, join to 1st stitch with sl st (15 sts)
Row 9-11:
Repeat row 8
Stuff carrot shell with poly fill until desired firmness
Row 12: Working in back loop only [hdc, hdc decrease] around, join to 1st stitch with sl st (10 sts) Cut & leave 6” tail for closing.
Using a darning needle, run the tail in and out of each of the front loop of the 10 stitches of your final round & again in first stitch of last row (this will create a drawstring closure). Tighten and draw needle through carrot. Cut remaining yarn and weave in ends.
Pom assembly: Wrap secondary color around 2” sturdy surface (cardboard, book, fingers, etc.) If you have a pom maker, feel free to use as well.
Wrap around 15 times and cut yarn. With 6” yarn, wrap around middle of pom and secure- flip and repeat on other side. Cut loops on top, repeat with bottom half of loops. With one tail from center tie, weave into top of carrot. Repeat with other tail and tie together to secure onto carrot top. If desired, you can also glue on. Weave in ends. Finally, fluff and cut pom to desired shagginess.
